I think I'd fuck Loco if it meant that the Farrelly film never sees the light of day.

That'd REALLY be taking one for Team Stooge.

I don't think I'd go THAT far.  Maybe for a Wheeler and Woolsey remake.

Well....I just don't feel like changing my user name to Ho-Moe, that's all.  Not that there's anything wrong with that!

In all seriousness, The Farrelly Brothers and MGM need to read this thread and just about any other thread concerning their movie and see just how seriously we take their idea.

So who wants to play post office?

I'll only play post office with you if we can do it at Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs and Chinese Food restaurant.

I saw that picture online and thought, "Greatest avatar ever."  I was in 7th grade when Halloween Havoc '91 aired, and even at that age me and my friends realized how hilariously stupid that whole electric chair thing was.  One of the hardest laughs I ever had in my life.

Just read that article Locoboy posted.  That movie could either be "eehh, ok" or really stupid.  'Gotta love that  part at the end about Mel Gibson, how he's a 'Stooges expert' and produced the TV movie back in 2000.  I dunno, I didn't think that movie was so hot.

... Hey Metaldams, I've been meaning to ask you, who's that nasty looking guy on your avatar?  lol

Based on how many attempts have been made to bring back something from long ago and make it "new" and the lousy track record these properties have, I'm not putting much stock in this. Add to the fact, how long this has been in the pipeline, it doesn't bode well.

The good news is that if it's done well enough, it can pump new interest in the real Stooges, but if it stinks, the opposite will occur.

To quote Moe: "I don't know. It was my idea, but I don't think much of it."

That's me!  You trying to say I'm nasty?

Nah, it's really professional wrestler Abdullah the Butcher in an electric chair.  He's probably about 70 now and still makes a living jamming kitchen utensils into people's eye sockets.

Did Abdullah the Butcher ever fight the Iron Sheik?  LOL

As an administrator of this site, I declare the Iron Shiek shall from now on be referred to as Sheiky Baby.

To answer your question, probably not, as Abdullah doesn't seem very "humble."

Hahahaha!  I just looked that up; I thought that was a joke!!  I can't believe that's a real place.  It sounds like something off of SNL.  Has anybody here been there?

Hehe, 'Sheiky Baby,' that's what Hogan calls him.  That 'f*ckin' Jabroni!'   :P

Yeah, now as I look at more info on Abdullah, I can't see the two of them fighting.  'Sheiky Baby' probably would've "broke his back, f*cked his ass and made him 'hom-bell' "

I wanna say "hey" to the old-timers I knew. Your favorite fiery redhead is here! I missed y'all. Not sure how often I can post, but I'll at least pop in every once in awhile. Love the Slipp board. What memories!

Now this Farrelly fiasco is rearing it's ugly head again. The only thing that should be pumped into it is tons of water so all the shit would be flushed out (in which case there would be nothing left).

Offline The 4th Stooge

Okay, I'm not ashamed to say I love the Farrelly Bros. movies, but they are NOT the type that would make a good Stooge film. Hell, there's no one left alive that would make a good Stooge film, if we're going to look at it from merely a comedy point of view.  And even if we throw a little drama in there (Mel Gibson's asstastic interpretation), it still sucks.

I've watched a LOT of biographical movies, but since I didn't know much about the subject, I thought they were pretty good (Patsy Cline, Frances Farmer, Loretta Lynn, Jackie Gleason, and Martin & Lewis). Now, REAL fans may claim that these movies were utter shit and got everything wrong, like I did when I was yelling at the TV after taping the movie.  (Not the best way to relax from work.)

To end this long rant, you can't catch lightning in a bottle, if anyone really knew that, it would've been Moe and Larry--especially Larry seeing Joe DeRita in Vegas and expecting that Joe to show up as a Stooge.  Most fans don't agree, but when he made the statement that he (Joe) wanted to put new life into an act that had gone on for 24 years, I believed him, and I think if they didn't have to kowtow to the "Will someone think of the children!" crowd, I believe he'd have a much better reputation.  Moe even admitted it when they were at one of the first (if not THE first) show with DeRita--they stuck in some off-color jokes, and got some solid laughs.  Too bad they couldn't have had a more adult (not smutty, but just in age)--I think the movies would've come off a lot better, and we wouldn't be talking about how DeRita could actually fix his mouth to say the Stooges weren't funny.

But, that's my 2 cents!

Here I am, eating a lightly toasted and buttered whole wheat bagel while drinking a nice tall glass of V-8, and I read a Sten post!  What does one have to do with the other?  Nothing really.

Good to hear from ya Sten!  Hope everything's going OK and that you'll pop in more often.

Couldn't agree more bro...or is that sis?  You can't tell on these boards!  Anywho...welcome to the board.

By the way, did you know the movie they would've made with Emil Sitka that the Ritz Brothers did end up making was R rated?

Now this Farrelly fiasco is rearing it's ugly head again. The only thing that should be pumped into it is tons of water so all the shit would be flushed out (in which case there would be nothing left).

And with a Farrelly film, we would certainly get treated to plenty of scenes featuring shit, farts, dog poop, going to the bathroom, diarrhea, constipation and all the other toilet "humor" that populates all their so called comedies.

This would be no way to treat the Stooges legacy.  Not only is it a bad idea for the Farrelly's to make it, but its a bad idea for anyone to make this.  Like someone else said, you can't catch lightning in a bottle again.

The only 2 scenarios that I can see a Stooge related film working are:   1) a serious drama, along the lines of "Chaplin", "Man on the Moon", etc.  If done well, I could see an Academy Award caliber film scenario;   or 2) original characters in the style of a Stooge comedy IE:  "Brain Donors".  This is not a Marx Brothers movie, but the characters had traits similar to the Marx's and the film featured original takes on that style of comedy.  It worked well and made for a decent movie. But it had NOTHING to do with the Marx Brothers.
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

I've been posting, reading, watching, participating and contributing to this site since the late 90's ...
I consider myself as an "old-timer", but I have yet to remember a post by a person STEN. (As evident by your post record) I also do not recall an old-time poster as being singly identified with red hair.
Also, your first phrase - (quote) 'I wanna say "hey" to the old-timers I knew.' (unquote) makes me think you are dead and reaching out into the infinite so that I am the only one that can see this post and comment on your recent passing into the realm of ghostliness.

Please clarify your past association with 3S.net and why I should be glad you are back.
(Note: If I'm just an old fart that can't remember you, then HEY!)
The tacks won't come out! Well, they went in ... maybe they're income tacks.

Sten had no association with threestooges.net that I know of, but plenty with threestooges.com, stoogeworld.com, and two of the three moderators on this site, yours truly included.  I hope she posts here more often, and if you look in the islipp classics section, I'm sure you'll find some of her posts.

PS:  Perhaps the name Sten Erin rings a bell from older boards?

Glad to have "lost sheep" old-timers here as well! WELCOME!

I may have read 3S.com or Stoogeworld posts (and maybe, jes maybe, posted there once or twice), but I shouldn't be memorable at those sites - I have been an almost exclusive 3S.net poster from day one.

It's nice know that a catchy avatar and handle can spark memories. Once again, please post here often and bathe in the wealth of Stoogeness that goes on here.     [3stooges] [pie]

I know this is like 60+ years too late, but why in the world did Columbia nix Moe's wish of having DeRita for 3rd Stooge?  Now, if it was a case of not wanting to re-hire him after letting him go, okay, I can understand that. But look at the shorts he did when he WAS at Columbia.  Stevie Wonder could see that even then he was a hell of a good fit. Sure, he had that "don't hit ME!" personality and even mentioned that he himself didn't think that they were very good, but I beg to differ. I just wish I could've seen the burlesque-era DeRita that Larry convinced Moe with.  Ah, well....

I can't remember who was left (besides Besser) in the shorts department in late 1955, Frank Mitchell? Some guy who's name escapes me who attended Shemp's funeral just to put in a good word for himself to be a Stooge (could've been Mitchell, I can't remember).

Now, if Columbia (and, to a lesser extent, Moe) hadn't been so intent on getting the Curly factor back, Besser could've turned out better than he did.  I mean, you can't argue with his talent, and with the right writers, they could've used Besser's totally opposite persona in contrast with Moe and Larry's--a sort of red-headed-bald-headed stepchild.  It worked quite well in "Flying Saucer Daffy," which was also interesting because it looked like that contract with Cohn about being hit was over.

I don't know--all this talk about new movies, if you're not going to go the REAL drama route (such as using material from "One Fine Stooge", or even the bit that Gibson movie got right--that Moe ended up as an errand boy, and how that must have affected him--then don't do it.)  Hell, given enough diet Coke and Bacardi, I could come up with a decently dramatic script--or at least some ideas.  If Chaplin can get such wonderful treatment, why did the Stooges have to get such shitty treatment (or will get shitty treatment if this stupid movie comes along).  Besides, I'm looking at the 75th anniversary video right now in my bookcase, and I seem to remember that it was at least 4-5 years ago.  If it ain't happened by now, it ain't happening...thank goodness.

Sorry for the rant, but the thought of ANOTHER crappy bio-pic that this time is stamped with the Farrelly Bros. name is too much to bear.
