Hey, why not, Fields was a funny guy, if you like understatements.  I'll try to start up some classic comedian threads outside of our three (four? six? seven? eighteen?) favorite clowns once in a while, and I'll make W.C. Fields our first installement.  Who here is familiar with the work of the great man, and who isn't?  I'll post favorite films and thoughts in a bit, but I'll let others speak first.
