From the Slapsticon website, and organizer Rob Farr...
SLAPSTICON 2008 is a four-day, international film festival dedicated to classic motion picture comedy! From Thursday July 17, through Sunday July 20, film lovers from around the world are invited to converge on Arlington Virginia., to attend screenings of rare shorts and selected feature-length comedies.
Sponsored by the Arlington County Department of Cultural Affairs, SLAPSTICON 2008 will take place at the county's spacious Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre in Arlington, Virginia.
Opening night at the Slapsticon will start off on Thursday night July 17 at 7:00pm with a triple slap as Paul Gierucki presents his 3 Stooges Rarities Show. Paul is being tight-lipped about the surprises in store, except to say, "The Stooge show will feature rare newsreel footage, home movies, outtakes, television appearances, interviews, forgotten commercials and a few suprises that are still being finalized. This program is guaranteed to contain something that will be new to even the most die-hard stooge fan."
