I've passed the Stooges on to the next generation in my house, too.  My son loves watching them.  He's just now learning who's who.  He now knows which Joe is which and which Curly is which.  Everybody knows Shemp.  At least my kids do.  He's the most distictive 3rd Stooge.  The Joes are Curly clones.

Barring a change to their schedule, Feb 17 is now the earliest we'll see Vol 5.

I'm like 50 months late, but this: "Quote from: shemps#1 on 3/17 at 10:12:42 PM
I've seen all of them except I Like it Black and Deep in My Ass 7." made me spit diet Coke on the office computer.  Oh, that and "jizz receptacle."

As for seeing ALL of the Stooges shorts released, I'll believe it when I see it.  I've been waiting for the complete Joe series for fucking ever--even on TV, because once they went to that stupid ass format, I knew damn well I was never going to see all the Joes.

I'd give my right arm for just the horrid, film versions of the KPLR-TV of the Besser shorts, but for some stupid reason, I threw most of the old tapes out, and the ones that didn't disintergrate, I got a new set from a member here, but most of the Joes were from the Family Channel and incomplete!

Stupid Sony!
Larry: They’ll hang us for this!
Moe: I know! Let’s cremate him!
Larry: Can’t do that--we ain’t got no cream!

I don't remember what we were talking about, but shemps#1 had posted a list of porno films, and then said that famous line.  I said he should put it on his .sig, and it is still bringing laughs today!  (I still laugh too).

What I can't understand is why they're wanting to revamp the format of the first 4 volumes.  It makes no sense.  Why can't they release 2 disc sets of about 20 or so shorts all the way up to Joe Besser?  Why mess up a good thing?   ???  Twenty bucks for about twenty shorts.  It's a good deal.  There is no need to change it.  The Stooges don't need bonus features or anything like that.  All we need are 190 shorts restored and remastered on 2 disc DVD sets.  Three volumes were released this year.  Maybe they'll release three volumes next year.  That would be a desent goal.  Then, maybe 3 more volumes in 2010?  Anything, but I wish Sony would keep us posted as we're all on the edges of our seats.

Well, I am, anyway.   :D

I dont think there's any cause for alarm. Volume 4 was only released 2 months ago and Sony could be following a pattern

V1. October
V2. May
V3. August
V4. October
V5. Could be May

Although i hope not as another 5 month wait would piss me off.

Well, we waited a long, long time for these DVD's, so I think I could wait another five months. I'm still on Vol 3 as it is.  ;D

Not that we needed anymore confirmation, but Sony is now listing vol 5 on their schedule for 3/17.

Offline dimelives

I sure hope Sony keeps up on getting these out despite the poor economy, and maybe even get 'em all out by the end of '09 like supposedly planned. *fingers crossed*

Is there any info on Vol. 6 yet?  I am about halfway through 5 and I NEED more Shemp!!!  In these troubled times, we all need as much Shemp as possible!

Not yet.

I am hoping for May or June for Vol 6.  It's probably the volume I've wanted the most with Vagabond Loafers and The Pest Man Wins.

Between the large number of "new to DVD" offerings and how strong these shorts are, this would arguably be the best set in the whole series.

I'll second that! I think Shemp is not just hilarious, he is the best actor of all the original Stooges.

I met another Shemp fan not long ago. I was in Starbucks buying coffee, wearing a Stooges shirt, & the kid behind the counter (who was maybe 20 years old) asked me who my favorite was. He said his favorite is Shemp!

Shemp is definitely funny!  His antics are hilarious.  I just got done watching 3 of his best shorts: "Brideless Groom," "Sing A Song Of Six Pants" and "All Gummed Up."  Those are 3 of his best.  And they look so good being restored and all.

Volume 6 will be one of the best sets in the collection. You don't get much better than The Ghost Talks, Studio Stoops, A Snitch In Time, Slap-Happy Sleuths, or Scrambled Brains. This will be the best set from the Shemp era, and may possibly be one of the best collections in the whole series!
I think Birdie will go for that!

By far, my favorite volume. I REALLY hope we get this before my birthday in July. I've been watching the hell out of Volume Five, but Volume Six is going to be intense. I can't wait.

I too am looking for a soitin release date for Sony's "The Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 6, 1949-1951".

When Vol. 5 came out, I was going to buy all 5 volumes through Amazon and they were at reduced prices ($13.99) - I believe the weekend of Mar 21-22. My debit card account didn't have enough money, so I waited for the next amount to be deposited. But I was too late. I'm going to see if Amazon offers reduced prices again when Vol. 6 comes out and hopefully buy all 6 volumes then. Otherwise, I'll have to buy them at their regular reduced price of $19.99, which is still not bad considering how any Stooges shorts are on a volume. So, "I can hardly wait!".

In the meantime, please check out my Youtube video: "Gremlins: The Stooges Overdub". Just use keywords "Gremlins Stooges". There are three parts which total about 25 minutes. It's clips from the Gremlins movie trimmed down to the shortened narrated story put out by Disneyland Records. Stooges audio bites were dubbed into the shorter, narrated story to make it more interesting and funny. The Gremlins theme song at the end is also "stooged-over" and there's a stooge surprise in the middle of the story. Enjoy.

By the way, has anybody seen Sarah Squeetin-tt-tt-tt?

I really enjoyed the set a lot, but is it me, or did most of the shorts seemed to be pitched slightly higher in sound?  I hope it's me, but I can get past that, just like the studio "correcting" the audio in Hot Scots.

I can't hear any difference. They may indeed be pitched higher. If so, your ears are a heckuva lot better than mine.

Volume 6 has now been announced it is in Sony's schedule for June 16th.

Mmk, so there was...

7 months between Volumes One and Two
3 months between Two and Three
2 months between Three and Four
Then 5 months between Four and Five
And 3 months between Five and Six...

I wonder if we will be getting Volume Seven in 2 months... :) I sure hope it's not 7 or 5 months instead! [pie] Wonder if Sony will be able to keep up on the original plan to have 'em all out by the end of this year... We shall see, we shall see.

In retrospect, that 7 months between #1 and #2 didn't seem so bad 'cos we didn't really know the release schedule. We were just happy the remastered shorts were being released. But after they started releasing the sets, then that 5 months wait between #4 and #5 seemed like forever. And now, the 3 month wait between #5 and #6 seems interminable. Well, I just keep trying to remind myself to be happy with the fact that the remastered shorts are even being released.
