I took a few minutes today and mocked up a list of possible Volumes Columbia will be releasing the shorts in. If they continue with their 3-year span (which is a nice number), we'll have a total of 8 volumes, with the last one only being 2 years long.. now from Sony's standpoint, I don't see them releasing a 2-year collection of Joe shorts. It's not going to happen. Maybe box them all up into one, and then possible span more Shemp's than a 3-year collection since the amount of shorts in the Shemp era varies every 3 year period. This is what I came up with.. I think this is a good template for people to update, add their comments, and make notations (i.e. which ones have already been released on DVD, which are the "Missing 60", etc.). Here's what I have..

Below is how the sets will be released. And I don't have a lot of time on my hand, in case you're wondering. I found a complete list of stooge shorts on the internet. Then, I cut and pasted the list and divided them up in Microsoft Word, which did the automatic numbering. Then I cut and pasted the list here. It took no more than 5 minutes to make this list.

It took me a lot of time to make that, I guess I wasn't as effective at finding a list like you were.

Now, that's a different story. I was angry there, so you told me to calm down, and that's fine. But all I did was post a second speculation based on rumors I 've heard. And LBMG tells me to calm down. Doesn't make sense. Then, insists that Half-Wits Holiday was released in 1947, when it really was released in 1947, which you can easily research (especially on this site).

Not necessarily, since they might well step up their production schedule if the initial volumes sell well.  But even if it does take 4 years, hell - we've waited this long...

Hehe! I like those suggestions. And as you just said, I posted my version because it seem far more likely, based on the rumor that there will be twelve 2-3 year volumes. What shocked and angered me was the fact that LBMG had some weird idea that I was furious at him.

I guess a lot of people will misread a post and get a wrong impression.  (I know that I do it often enough.)

I didn't know about the rumor of the 12 volume set either, but that just seems very plausible, especially looking at the way you broke it down.  It just fits.  The only difference that I think is likely is that Half-Wits Holiday would probably get included in vol. 6, even though it came out in '47.  That would allow a clean break between the Curlys and Shemps, which seems like something Sony would do.

Yeah, I understand. You're right, I get too stressed from work. Unfortunately, I was brought up where and  are never the answer. So, I never do those. Not saying that people shouldn't do it or it's bad if you do it. I was just brought up to solve problems in a sober manner. Unfortunately, I'm not good at it.

As for Half-Wits Holiday, I do agree with you that it might be included in volume 6. Sony would probably want to separate the Curly, Shemp, and Joe sets.

Don't worry about. I shouldn't have overreacted like that. I was also at fault.

And I see I'm not the only one that works 8-5 and only get paid for 40 hours. Till this day, it annoys me that I have to come in an extra hour for work each day and not get paid for it. I understand, it's the lunch hour, but I never take the full hour. I bring my own sandwich and it takes me less than 15 minutes to eat it. I used to work at company that only required people to work 9-5 and get paid for 40 hours. Unfortunately, I got let go from that job a year ago and I'm stuck with a crappier job now. That's why I get frustrated more easily now than I used to. I really need to look for another job that only requires me to work 9-5. It may only be an hour difference, but it makes a huge difference to me.

If it makes you feel any better*, my job is just the opposite.  I generally get in a little after 9, and I usually leave around 4:30 unless I have a big project, but I bill them for 40 hours every week.  Of course, I don't take a lunch break as such.   I bring in a salad, since I have a small frig in my office, and eat at my desk while I work and surf.  (I love multi-tasking.)

I also managed to talk them into engaging me as an independent contractor, so I don't have to put up with all of the bullshit the employees do.  Of course, it took me over 30 years to get to where I could land a "job" like that, and I have to admit that I lucked into the opportunity.

You guys have it easy, actually.   Well, easier than me, anyway.  I work 11pm to 7am Sunday through Friday.   Yes, that's Sunday night through Friday night.  I also have to work many Saturday nights.  My only guaranteed nights off are Friday and Saturday night once every three weeks.  And, not only that, I actually have to be at work at 9pm on Sunday nights to get the plant opened and started up.  Ah, the life of a Maintenance Mechanic...

Ah, yes, 3rd shift.  It sucks, but I always thought 2nd shift sucked even more, myself.  I'm glad those days are long behind me now.

The hardest job I ever did was working as a roustabout in the oil fields of Wyoming, back in the 70's, although the summer that I worked sweeping up spilled pasta all day in a spaghetti factory was probably worse.  The plant was about 4 miles from where I lived at the time; I was able to get a ride to work usually, but I had to walk home, and that summer the temperature was in the 100's almost every damed day.  (On the plus side, I lost about 70 pounds that year.)   

I've done all kinds of jobs over the years. I've  washed dishes in a Jewish temple in Denver, and ran printing presses in Buffalo, NY and Tucson, AZ. I've been a security guard, a nursing secretary, a purchasing agent, a steel salesman, and a cashier. These days I'm the computer geek in a hospital's finance department.

I've done all kinds of jobs over the years. I've  washed dishes in a Jewish temple in Denver, and ran printing presses in Buffalo, NY and Tucson, AZ. I've been a security guard, a nursing secretary, a purchasing agent, a steel salesman, and a cashier. These days I'm the computer geek in a hospital's finance department.

Which company did you work for in Buffalo? That's (unfortunately ) my home town. Knowing B-lo though, it probably isn't even in business anymore!

I worked at several places in Buffalo over the years.  I made it my home base when I got out of the Army in the mid-70's, as my mother was born and raised in Hamburg and I didn't feel like going back to Michigan in those days.  Every couple of years I would give in to wanderlust and go out west for a year or two, but I kept coming back to Buffalo.  I lived all over the city:  near downtown, in the university district, in south Buffalo, on the west side and finally on the east side near Broadway Market.  I loved Buffalo, and it was a cool city to live in, but I hated the politics and the taxes and New York state in general, and I finally left for good in 1988.

Some of the places that I worked at in Buffalo are probably still around, although I don't know for sure since I haven't been back since '88:  Citibank, Buffalo Savings Bank, Burns Security, Downtown Nursing Home, and Grand Island Manor Nursing Home were the main places over the years.

All still there as of 2006. I left in June of last year and don't plan on heading back. Ever.

The year you left for good was the year I really got into the Stooges. I mean yeah, I was 2 at the time, but I don't know if you ever watched them on TV there, but WNYB-49 used to air them Sunday mornings in their uncut glory (I had about 3 years worth of tapes with pretty much every short on them for awhile.. over time and non-stop viewing caused a lot of them to wear beyond watchable).

I was born and raised there, and that's the only thing I'll give the area. That and Mighty Taco.

Anyone think we start rolling to the mid-40s they'll release Rockin' In the Rockies? I haven't seen it since I was a kid.. Lord knows I'll never be able to see it again if they don't release it.

I think that would be great!  Someone here laid out a speculative list of which shorts may be on future releases, provided Sony stays with the three-year model.  That meant that some of the later Curly shorts would share space with Shemp titles.  If they want to avoid this scenerio, they could flesh out some releases with some Stooges-related features such as Rockin' in the Rockies.  Locoboymakesgood is certainly on the right track.

I'd love it if Columbia released Rockin' in the Rockies and Time Out for Rhythm on DVD, esp Time since their stuff in that movie
is some of their best work IMO. Like I said before, if WB was kind enough to give us the Gold Raiders and Meet the Baron DVD
double feature then why can't Columbia do the same?
