Topic: Songs that Refer to Other Songs

This topic isn't a nitpick - just an observation about certain tunes, particularly, songs that reference or use lyrics from other songs.
For instance, Tom Petty had a hit tune with Runnin' Down a Dream, and the first verse goes ...
It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin'
The trees went by, me and Del were singin'
Little Runaway, I was flyin'

Also, perhaps one of the most "other-song-referenced" laden tunes - one MUST include Ricky Nelson's song Garden Party ... here are a few verses of that tune:

People came from miles around, everyone was there
Yoko brought her walrus, there was magic in the air
Over in the corner, much to my surprise
Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan's shoes wearing his disguise

Played them all the old songs, thought that's why they came
