The Cinecon 42 Festival will be held in Hollywood over the Labor Day Weekend, Thursday August 31 – Monday September 4. Screenings are held at The Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Blvd., and festival activities at the nearby Hollywood Renaissance Hotel.
Among the scheduled films are
START CHEERING (1938) with Charles Starrett, Jimmy Durante and The Three Stooges, and
STRICTLY IN THE GROOVE (1942) with Ozzie Nelson, Leon Errol and Shemp Howard.

The show is put on by a group called the Society for Cinephiles/Cinecon, Inc. This Labor Day weekend, beginning Thursday night, August 31 and continuing through Monday afternoon, September 4, film fans attending the show will be treated to over thirty rare features and shorts, and have an opportunity to purchase rare stills, posters and other collectibles.
CASABLANCA and GONE WITH THE WIND? Great movies, but you won’t see them at Cinecon. We specialize in running rare, unusual and unjustly forgotten movies from the silent and early sound era. Most films are screened in 35mm and silent films include live piano accompaniment.
