Headquartered at Gene Autry's Flying-A-Ranch, the singing cowboy and his bumbling sidekick Pat Buttram travel the Southwest, dispensing law and order (and music) from town to town.

A train carrying a child violin prodigy to a concert in San Francisco makes a stop in Autryville. Tired of performing, the boy runs away from his guardian Uncle, to Gene's ranch. Some crooked ranch hands steal the boy's Stradivarius to hold it for ransom.
