Station/Studio | Armed Forces Radio |
Host/Star | Don Ameche |
Featuring | Joe Besser (Solo) |
Stars and celebrities donated their time to this AFRS program, performing music, songs, comedy, recitations, etc., to the requests of our troops overseas in Europe and the Pacific.
Don Wilson dedicates this episode to the AFRS' Pacific Ocean Network. Host Don Ameche introduces Martha Tilton singing "Take It Easy," and following, assures her that she does not have to worry about backstage fans... Don's hired a tough new stage doorman/bouncer, Joe Besser! Guest Nancy Walker is blocked at the door by Besser, leading to comic bantering between the two as tough Nancy takes on Joe. Nancy later sings "Alive & Kickin'." 13-year-old Lois Butler sings Victor Herbert's "Italian Street Song." Ameche welcomes actress Janet Blair to sing three songs ("I'll Remember April," "Button Up Your Overcoat" and "I'll Walk Alone") and talk a little about her Pacific USO tour with Jack Benny. Joe Besser receives new instructions to take everyone's address before turning them away at the door... introduction cue for Richard Lane playing Nancy Walker's fast-talking, wiseguy agent, and opportunities for Joe to work his "Not so f-a-a-a-s-t!" schtick.
