RADIO-KEITH-ORPHEUM PROGRAM

Air Date/Released Tuesday, September 16, 1930
Station/Studio NBC Red (radio)
Host/Star Ted Healy
Featuring Ted Healy (Solo)

(Show title not revealed in radio listings)... the NBC Red network aired a program of entertainment starring Ted Healy as the Master of Ceremonies. Guests included singer Ethel Merman, opera singer Odall Careno, and Ted Healy's "company,' aka his stooges.

At this time, Ted was appearing at the Palace Theater in New York City (Sept. 13 - 19), in Healy's musical-comedy revue "Ted Healy & His Racketeers." The Racketeers WERE NOT Moe, Larry & Shemp, who had split from Healy weeks earlier on the west coast. A September 10, 1930 appearance in Schenectady NY by Ted Healy & His Racketeers was filled by 'stooges' Eddie Moran, Paul Van Dyke, Joe Verdi and Jerry Bergen. How long they stayed with Ted is unknown, and shortly, Ted's new lineup would be Mousie Garner, Jack Wolf and Dick Hakins. Not being with Moe, Larry and Shemp, this radio performance is categorized as a 'Ted Healy (solo).'

The radio broadcast with Ted was possibly a promotional appearance for SOUP TO NUTS, released by Fox on September 28.

Cast: Ted Healy (M.C.), Ethel Merman, Oradell Careno, Eddie Moran, Paul Van Dyke, Joe Verdi, Jerry Bergen
