Station/Studio | KYW-TV 3 Cleveland OH |
Host/Star | Mike Douglas |
Featuring | Moe, Larry and Curly Joe |
Long-running (1961 - 1981), syndicated, 90-minute afternoon talk show. Mike Douglas' easy going, homey personality, genuine interest in his guests' careers and lives, and an equal focus on performance as much as talk... combined to make DOUGLAS a hit with television audiences. Originally it was a local talk show based out of Cleveland. Douglas rolled out to syndication in September 1963, and moved to Philadelphia in 1965 where it remained thru the 1970s. Away from the entertainment centers of NY and L.A., its popularity still ensured a steady stream of eager guests from film, television, music, radio, publishing and government.
In Cleveland during a promotional tour for the upcoming release of THE THREE STOOGES GO AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAZE (1963), Moe, Larry & Curly Joe made this appearance. Additional information on the boys' participation is unknown at this time.
Strangely, the Stooges were also booked during this 1PM block of time on a competing Cleveland station’s ONE O’CLOCK CLUB. Both shows were live and 90 minutes, so it appears the boys had a plan to dash from one station to the other.
Cast: Mike Douglas (Host), Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Joe DeRita, Tom Glaser, Richard Gehman, Carmel Quinn
