Sitcom adaptation of the Broadway play and 1942 Columbia feature film, themselves both an adaptation of Ruth McKinney's semi-autobiographical novel. Two sisters from Ohio move to New York for jobs and fame. Older sister Ruth is the sensible writer, and younger sister Eileen is the impressionable and naive aspiring actress.
