JEANNIE - The Dognappers

Air Date/Released Saturday, October 13, 1973
Station/Studio CBS / Hanna-Barbera Prods.
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

Saturday morning animated series, adapted from the NBC sitcom I DREAM OF JEANNIE (1965 - 1970). "Teenaged" Jeannie is released from a 1,500-year imprisonment in her bottle, by teenage surfer Corey Anders (STAR WARS' Mark Hamill). She is joined in her new life by Junior-Genie Babu (Joe Besser), a well-meaning bumbler whose magical call to action, "Yabble Dabble!," creates one goof-up after another. Complicating their adventures are Corey's goofy best friend Henry, and snooty rich kid S. Melvin Farthinghill.

Corey and Henry start a dog-sitting business to raise money. Temporarily left to watch the dogs, Jeannie doesn't see Fifi's owner retrieve the valuable show poodle. The kids assume that local dognappers have taken Fifi. When dognappers really do plot to steal the dog, Jeannie arrives to retrieve it, leading the police to think that Corey and Henry are the crooks. It's up to Jeannie and Babu to lead the boys to the real criminals.

Joe Besser also provides the voice for a minor character, a jail guard.
