Station/Studio | NBC / Danny Thomas Enterprises |
Featuring | Joe Besser (Solo) |
Joey Barnes hosts a network, late-night New York talk show. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Ellie, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold, and a never-seen wife who is only heard yelling "Jillson!" through the building's ventilation system. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.
Ellie's talent recommendations, neighborhood characters with dubious talents, have reached the end of Joey's patience. That leaves Jillson's four nephews hanging, until Jillson arranges for them to impersonate repairmen who arrive at the Barnes' apartment during Joey's breakfast.
