Joey Barnes hosts a CBS Sunday night variety show from New York. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Abby, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the barely competent apartment building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.
Joey falls into a depression when NBC cancels his talk show. CBS to the rescue, when the network hires Joey to host a Sunday night variety show.
