Situation comedy based on the short stories of James Thurber. The overactive imagination of cartoonist John Monroe helps him deal with feelings of job dissatisfaction, a loving but domineering wife, and a brilliant and inquisitive daughter that John just can't figure out. His daydreams are presented in animation form, modeled on Thurber's artwork.
John's insistence on the tradition of a nightly family dinner, regardless if he arrives home late, leads to a night of indigestion and bad dreams. Consoling Lydia after a nightmare, John tells his daughter a story (in flashback) of Cousin Horaces's dreams of a ghost (Sheldon Leonard) who gives tips on the horses, and his own childhood experience of a late dinner nightmare. Horace and John Jr. create a late-night brouhaha, resulting in a police raid led by an incompetent Police Chief (Joe Besser).
Crew: Sheldon Leonard (Executive Producer), Danny Arnold (Producer), John Rich (Director), Lila Garrett, Bernie Kahn (Writers), DePatie-Freleng (Animation)
