MY WORLD AND WELCOME TO IT - The Night the House Caught on Fire

Air Date/Released Monday, October 13, 1969
Station/Studio NBC / Sheldon Leonard Prods.
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

Situation comedy based on the short stories of James Thurber. The overactive imagination of cartoonist John Monroe helps him deal with feelings of job dissatisfaction, a loving but domineering wife, and a brilliant and inquisitive daughter that John just can't figure out. His daydreams are presented in animation form, modeled on Thurber's artwork.

On the topic of accepting people for all their quirks and differences, John tells his daughter a story (in flashback) of his grandfather, an eccentric who regales the grandchildren with his tall tales about the Civil War. A malfunctioning humidifier, Grandpa's overactive imagination, and Mother's paranoia about reports of a local arsonist lead to "The Night the House Caught on Fire." Joe Besser appears as the Chief of inept firemen.
