JERRY LEWIS SHOW, THE

Air Date/Released Tuesday, March 25, 1969
Station/Studio NBC
Host/Star Jerry Lewis
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

One-hour comedy and music variety series, featuring guest stars appealing to young adults, teens and children. Many of Lewis' movie characters, including 'The Nutty Professor,' appeared in sketches.

Jerry looks at the achievements and shortcomings of television. Sketches include looks at hidden camera commercials, and minorities in commercials, with Joe Besser as a gas station attendant and commercial director. Michelle Lee sings "A Long, Long Way to Fall," and Buddy Grecco performs "We Almost Made It" before joining Lewis and George Wyle in some musical clowning around on the piano. The cast and guests spoof women newscasters, and perform a Broadway musical salute to weather forecasters with Joe Besser as a burlesque comic. Jerry presents the art of writing and reading musical arrangements phonetically.

The series' talent coordinator was Jerry's father, Danny Lewis (THREE HAMS ON RYE 1950).
