JABBERJAW - The Fast-Paced Chase Race

Hanna-Barbera's 1970s originality is at work here, recycling the formats of JOSIE & THE PUSSYCATS and SCOOBY-DOO, with newly named characters living in the year 2076, a rock band named The Neptunes. Drawing on the mid '70s shark-mania of JAWS, the main character is Jabberjaw, a talking great white shark and The Neptunes' drummer. Frank Welker was Jabber's voice, an impersonation of Jerry 'Curly' Howard; the shark's personality was modeled on Rodney Dangerfield.

Dr. Robek creates microbes with an appetite for oil. Unless the leaders of Petrolagua cede control the world's supply, he will unleash the disease. The Neptunes become his unwitting dupe, when Robek uses them to smuggle his creation into Petrolagua during the Trans-Marine Race.
