CHEERS - The Magnificent Six

Air Date/Released Thursday, October 22, 1992
Station/Studio NBC / Paramount

Cheers, the Boston bar where everybody knows your name. Ex-Red Sox relief pitcher, and recovering alcoholic Sam Malone owns the watering hole, and his eccentric employees and regulars help supply the laughs.

Considering that Rebecca once set fire to the bar with her careless smoking, Sam is alarmed to learn she hasn’t kicked the cigarette habit, so Sam brings in a counselor to help. Meanwhile, Sam hires Henri, Woody’s former rival, as a relief bartender and he's bet by the French lothario as to who can collect more women’s phone numbers by midnight. Sam takes the bet as a matter of American pride.

Middle-aged Sam compares his problems with younger women to watching the Three Stooges. Sam disses Joe, but Norm gets in the final word...
Sam: It's like watching The Three Stooges, you know, you watch the early ones with Curly and they were magic. And then then you watch the later ones, you know, where they're using the same jokes with Curly Joe and it just breaks your heart. What I’m saying is, I guess, you know, you gotta move with the times, that’s all.
Norm: Listen to the scaredy-cat, knocking Curly Joe!
