Attempting to improve United States relations with Muslim countries, the government recruits comedian Albert Brooks to visit India and Pakistan to determine what makes Muslims laugh. But his efforts may inadvertently renew hostilities between India and Pakistan.
Brooks continues polling the local population with his Indian tour guide...
Albert Brooks: Do you mind if I ask you a question?
Tour Guide: Yes sir, why not?
AB: We’re asking everybody… What makes you laugh?
Guide: I don’t know sir.
AB: You don’t know any comedians? Did you ever hear of any American comedians?
Guide: Yes, The Three Stooges.
AB: The Three Stooges! You know them? Do you have a favorite?
Guide: Larry.
AB: Larry!? Nobody likes Larry.
