SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - The Four Stooges

Air Date/Released Saturday, April 5, 2003
Station/Studio NBC / Broadway Video
Host/Star Bernie Mac

Revolutionary sketch comedy/music program, originally featuring the Not-Ready-For-PrimeTime-Players. After a couple poor seasons, following the 1979-1980 departures of the original cast (i.e., Belushi, Aykrod, Curtin, etc.), the sketch variety series was back on track and has continued for almost 4 additional decades.

THE THREE STOOGES 75th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL and its host Woody Harrelson are spoofed in “The Four Stooges,” featuring guest host Bernie Mac as 4th Stooge ‘Rib-Eye Wilkins.’ The opening moment of the sketch features Jimmy Fallon as Woody Harrelson...
Hi. I'm Woody Harrelson. And that can only mean one thing - you guessed it... a prime-time Three Stooges tribute. If you're like me, you love The Three Stooges - mostly because you're stoned all the time. Moe, Larry & Curly are The Three Stooges we know best. But over the years, the Stooges went through a lot of line-up changes, with Shemp being only the first among many replacements for Curly. One of the most interesting, and little-known, chapters in the Stooges' existence came during a brief period when the Three Stooges become a foursome, with the addition of a gifted physical comedian, dance hall piano player, and former cathouse bouncer named... Rib-Eye Wilkins. This new line-up made its debut on the Columbia Studios two-reeler NOW MUSEUM, NOW YOU DON'T.

The Stooges special aired on NBC on April 29, three weeks after this sketch satirizing it. Postponed twice, the special was earlier scheduled for Feb. 18 and April 1. The SNL sketch was apparently timed to coincide with the postponed April 1 broadcast.
