Chicago psychologist Bob Hartley, and his wife Emily, deal with day to day life and the eccentrics that pass through their personal and professional lives.

While Bob's out of town on business, Emily learns that her old college flame is in town and invites him to dinner. Carol, Jerry and Howard are worried it's more than platonic, and keep stopping by the Hartley apartment to interrupt the reunion. It turns out they may be right, when Emily discovers that Steve is recently divorced and he makes a pass at her.

Fed up with her friends' interference, Emily snaps...
