Station/Studio | NBC / Greg Garrison Prods. |
Host/Star | Dean Martin |
Dean Martin's popular Thurday night variety show (1965 – 1974) featured music and sketches. In its later seasons, the focus leaned more toward comedy bits, and its final season introduced a celebrity roast sequence. In the Fall of 1974, Dean's weekly show ended but the roasts continued for another ten years as a series of 1-hour Roast Specials. The 2nd half of this week's episode featured a celebrity roast of TONIGHT SHOW announcer Ed McMahon. Also featured were music and comedy sketches with Ernest Borgnine, Charo, Dom DeLuise and Carol Arthur.
Introducing Ed McMahon for his comments on the dais, Dean Martin presents him with a plaque commemorating the event...
I'd like you to know that it's quite an honor to be given this plaque. Our "Man of the Week" is chosen by a Blue Ribbon panel of experts... The Three Stooges and the Galloping Gourmet.
