SIMPSONS, THE - Thursdays With Abie

Air Date/Released Sunday, January 3, 2010
Station/Studio Fox / 20th Century Fox TV

Satirical, animated sitcom adventures of the dysfunctional, working class Simpsons family. The strange town of Springfield is their home, populated by a mixture of neurotics and socially stunted weirdos.

Grampa meets writer Marshall Goldman, and tells him stories of his youth, such as meeting Clark Gable in 1933 and giving him a copy of "Gone With the Wind," surviving a torpedoed ship in WW2 and training a shark to rescue, etc. Goldman publishes the stories in the shoppers guide, and generates fame for himself and Grampa. Homer is jealous that these stories were never shared with him, and tries to outdo Marshall by writing stories about Mr. Burns. Soon, Homer learns that Goldman wants to win a Pulitzer, and will murder Grampa for the publicity. In a flashback to the train station where Grampa met Clark Gable, we see a man reading the Aug. 1, 1933 "Springfield Shopper," with the headline Curly to Shemp: You’re Out!
