RULES OF ENGAGEMENT - Role Play

Air Date/Released Monday, March 18, 2013
Station/Studio CBS / Paramount / Sony

Two couples, one married and one engaged, and their single friend deal with their interpersonal relationships.

Jeff promises Audrey a romantic dinner at the most popular French restaurant in town, and then forgets to make a reservation. His solution is to suggest a night of role play with her as “Nicole Kidman,” and use that to receive a privileged table at the restaurant. Meanwhile, Adam and Timmy have a culture shock conflict over comedy films. Adam introduces him to an evening with the Three Stooges (with clips from A PLUMBING WE WILL GO).
Adam: You can’t have a table full of pies, and not expect a pie fight to break out.
Jennifer: That’s why I don’t want pie! Sometimes I feel like I’m marrying Larry, Moe and Curly.
Timmy: I’m sorry, who? Ah yes... I’ve heard of them, but I’ve never seen any of their films.
Adam: Oh my god. Not even the ones where they’re plumbers and everything goes wrong?
Timmy: No.
Adam: What about when they’re in the old West, and everything goes wrong?
Timmy: Maybe I wasn’t clear Mr. Rhodes. When I said I’ve never seen any of their films... I meant that.
Adam: Oh T... that’s it!
Jennifer: What’s it?... Oh, please don’t!
Adam: Too late. Tonight, at my house, it’s Stooge night!
Timmy: I have no doubt about that.
