STRIPES

Air Date/Released Friday, June 26, 1981
Station/Studio Columbia Pictures

Slacker John Winger enlists in the Army to get his life on track, and convinces his best friend Russell to go along for the ride. But the Army’s view of military life doesn’t track with John’s, and he finds himself at odds with Sgt. Hulka and martinette Capt. Stillman. Hulka’s platoon of misfits surprises everyone, and a special assignment accidentally lands them behind Soviet lines in Czechoslovakia.

On a pass, the platoon takes in the mud wrestling matches at the Tom-Tom Nightclub. John convinces Ox (John Candy) to take on a team of women wrestlers, and Ox takes on a crazed Curly Howard persona to fight the girls.
