MUPPET BABIES - The Muppet of Invention

Air Date/Released Saturday, October 20, 1990
Station/Studio CBS / The Jim Henson Co.

Spun-off from a scene in THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN (1984), the Muppet characters are babies in a nursery managed by Nanny (voice of Barbara Billingsley). Their imaginations lead to wild adventures, with lesson-based emphasis on teamwork, problem solving, and friendship.

Statler and Waldorf’s television is broken, and visit the nursery to watch their favorite show. The history of inventions is related to the babies, leading to lessons in the virtue of perseverance and imagination in new inventions… and a series of useless and troublesome gadgets from Scooter. The musical jacket Scooter makes for Piggy leads into a clip of Moe, Larry and Curly from DISORDER IN THE COURT (1936).

The series developer / writer of MUPPET BABIES was Jeffrey Scott [Maurer], Moe Howard's grandson.
