Cheers, the Boston bar where everybody knows your name. Ex-Red Sox relief pitcher, and recovering alcoholic Sam Malone owns the watering hole, and his eccentric employees and regulars help supply the laughs.
Coach’s fiancée Irene wins $2MM in the lottery, and decides that she is now a changed person and calls off the wedding. Coach refuses to believe her, insisting it’s all a phase and she’ll come back to him. The gang tries to convince him that she’s gone, but Coach continues with the wedding plans, and on the big day he continues the wait in vain. As the episode begins, camera shots of the characters’ homes are shown, with respective voice-overs relating the events of the prior episode. At Diane’s apartment house, we hear her phone conversation with Frasier, followed by her turning on the television to find The Three Stooges...
Good lord, aren’t all the 8-year-olds in bed by now? [click] Oh good, the Late News.
We move on to Sam’s apartment and hear him turning into the news...
Well, let’s see what’s on the old tube here. Oh well, I watched some news over the weekend. That’s good enough I guess. [click] This time the Stooges, and Sam exclaims, Oh great! I love this one! They’re doctors!
