Carrie Wells is a former police detective with a rare condition that gives her total memory recall… with one exception: the childhood events that would help solve her sister's long-ago murder. Carrie has tried to put her past behind her, but she's unexpectedly reunited with her ex-boyfriend and partner, NYPD Detective Al Burns, when she rejoins the force.
A 7-year-old boy seems to be the only witness to the brutal murder of his family, and Carrie must gently navigate the boy’s psyche to learn the truth, including which one of his parents was the intended victim. Carrie’s initial interview with the boy finds him in a waiting room watching DUTIFUL BUT DUMB (1941) on television. Implying that she’s not a particular fan of The Three Stooges, Carrie advises him he doesn’t have to watch it, he can watch something else.
