HOWARD STERN SHOW, THE - General Larry Fine

Air Date/Released Saturday, August 11, 1990
Station/Studio WWOR-TV
Host/Star Howard Stern

Howard Stern brought his radio show and cast to television, in a Saturday night version on WWOR Channel 9 from Secaucus NJ. Little was changed from radio, other than adding a visual element to the program. It ran for 65 episodes, over the 2 year period of July 1990 - August 1992.

STERN semi-regular Billy West is well-known for his impersonations of Larry Fine, and this is the only known TV sketch that captured his tribute routine. President Bush (Bush I) declared on August 8, 1990 that Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait had forced the U.S. to "draw a line in the sand," and the U.S. would join a U.N. coalition in Saudi Arabia to confront the Iraqi forces. This STERN episode aired three days later, and features West as 'General Larry Fine,' talking about the "line in the sand."

Billy West was a guest at the 1990 and 1991 The Three Stooges Conventions in Trevose PA. He also attended the 1992 Three Stooges Convention in Lewiston ME.
