San Francisco talk show host Danny Tanner is widowed when his wife dies unexpectedly, leaving him alone to raise their three daughters. His brother-in-law Jesse, an aspiring musician, and good friend Joey, an aspiring comedian, move in to help.
Jesse sells a commercial jingle, and decides its time to leave the family exterminator business. His father is so upset, he disowns Jesse. Meanwhile, Stephanie suffers with her first cavity.
In an early scene, the family prepares to leave for a Halloween party. The men go as Moe (Jesse), Larry (Danny) and Curly (Joey).
