In 2151, Earth's first deep-space starship, Enterprise, begins a mission of exploration and contacting alien civilizations.
On the first anniversary of Enterprise's launch, over dinner T'Pol tells Cmdr. Tucker and Capt. Archer that Vulcan's true first contact with Earth occurred in 1957... A Vulcan science vessel observing Russia's Sputnik launch crash lands in the hills of Pennsylvania. When a rescue ship does not arrive, the three surviving Vulcans disguise themselves and enter the society of the mining town Carbon Creek PA. The Vulcan Stron, who is working as a handyman, is annoyed not only by their stranded situation, but by a child's comments...
Stron: This is the third time this week I have had to fix Mrs. Garrett's sink.
T'Mir: Perhaps she enjoys your company.
Stron: It might be more tolerable if her son didn't insist on calling me Moe.
T'Mir: Why does he do that?
Stron: There is a comic actor known as a Stooge with that name. The boy believes we have similar hair.
Mestral: There is a resemblance.
