17.75 min. (Short Subject)

Fired from another theatre gig, our stage comic Stooges take the advice of an irate theatre manager to kill themselves. Literally on the brink, they meet three lady hoofers, Hilda, Tilda, and Wilda on the same rooftop, and fast become smitten with them. Forgetting all about pulling a Brody, the pals and gals soon meet up with a man "afflicted with millions" who offers them starring roles in his new stage show.

Nita Bieber, Gloria Patrice and Ruth Godfrey filmed a scene where they impersonate The Three Stooges, a companion piece to the Stooges impersonation of the girls as ballerinas. It was edited before the short was released. The script for that missing segment appears in The Three Stooges Journal # 111 (Fall 2004). It is accompanied by a production still of the girls in costume as Moe, Larry and Curly, courtesy of the memorabilia collection of costar Nita Bieber. The mystery of the girls wearing suits in the final scene is explained by this unusual discovery.

Costars Nita Bieber and Gloria Patrice were interviewed for The Three Stooges Journal in 2004. Their comments were published in issues 111 and 112, Fall - Winter 2004.

The Army Induction scene was scripted for GENTS WITHOUT CENTS, but not filmed at that time. The routine originates from Buster Keaton's Columbia short GENERAL NUISANCE (1941), performed by Keaton and Monte Collins.

The "Swingeroo Joe" number is actually titled "Chambers Boogie," by Tommy Chambers; see The Three Stooges Journal # 94 (Summer 2000).

According to costars Nita Bieber and Gloria Patrice, the rooftop sequence was filmed at Monogram Studios, a few blocks east of Columbia on Sunset Blvd.
