Files at the UCLA Film & Television Archives reveal that among the topics covered in this newsreel, Ted Healy officiates at a Chicago presentation donating old radios to poor children. Other news events covered include a Bowie MD horse race for charity, President and Mrs. Hoover serenaded by Capital University's choir at the White House, Paris shopgirls have a gala day, the healthiest boy and girl in the U.S., National 4-H Club awards, Chicago printer wins the Irish Sweepstakes, an army of women push for Prohibition reform, the bells of St. Peter are robotized, European circus' lion keeper entertains baby cubs with balloons, aquatic carnival in Palm Springs CA, and USC battles Washington Univ. in Los Angeles.
Healy was costarring in BILLY ROSE'S CRAZY QUILT with Phil Baker and Fanny Brice, which was then playing in Chicago at the Apollo Theatre (Oct. 4 - Dec. 19, 1931) as part of its post-Broadway national tour. Ted's stooges for that stage revue were Mousie Garner, Dick Hakins and Jack Wolf.
