Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)
70 min. (Feature Film)
Cynical star newspaper reporter Hugh Woodruff (Rod Cameron) coasts on his past reputation, content to relive old times with some scotch. The city editor teams him with young novice David Flynn (Ben Cooper), full of enthusiasm but no experience. The city liquor commissioner is murdered in a car explosion, and Flynn is anxious to work with "Woody" on the sensational story. But Woody is reluctant, resentful of the newcomer, and arranges a practical joke that costs Flynn his job. Now toiling on a low-level paper, David stumbles across a lead in the murder case, and only Woodruff's experience can help him work and break the story, which promises to lead high into the city government. But first, he and the veteran's fiancee must find a way to pull Woody from the bottle and reignite his passion for reporting.
Joe Besser has a small role as the city coroner.
