Leading man of Vitagraph Studios silent one-reeler melodramas and comedies in the 1st decade of the 1900s. Impressed by a young studio gopher, Costello arranged for the young man, Moe Howard (!), to be cast in various Vitagraph juvenile supporting roles circa 1909 - 1910.<p>Father of actresses Helene Costello, and Dolores Costello who was married to John Barrymore. Grandfather of John Drew Barrymore, and great-grandfather of Drew Barrymore.
