A star of the "Our Gang" comedies from 1932 - 1934, Beckett was a rising star in Hollywood during the late 1930s and into the 1940s. Alcohol and drug abuse destroyed his promising career, and the 1950s provided little more than bit roles. His life spiralled downward, and Scotty died of a barbituate overdose in 1968.
