Character actor and dancer, who quickly changed careers and became a screenwriter. Noted for several films that he wrote for Abbott & Costello, particularly ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN (1948). He was blacklisted after the McCarthy hearings, and moved into television scripting under the pseudo-name "J. C. Selby."
Murdered in 2004, when a psychopath broke into his home and decapitated him.
