Unaired pilot episode production starring musician and singer Mel Torme. He's Mel Turner, whose band headlines at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco. Joe Besser costars as Joe, Mel's manager. The show's title, and Besser's closing line, describes the series' underlying premise that nothing goes quite as Mel plans.

A young girl from the Ozarks turns up looking for Mel, and a chance to sing in his act. Mel's regular singer cancels her appearance, and the aspiring singer gets her chance.
