JOEY BISHOP SHOW, THE - A Crush on Joey

Air Date/Released Saturday, February 16, 1963
Station/Studio NBC / Danny Thomas Enterprises
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

Joey Barnes hosts a network, late-night New York talk show. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Ellie, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold, and a never-seen wife who is only heard yelling "Jillson!" through the building's ventilation system. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.

One of the neighborhood children has a crush on Joey, who wants to discourage the infatuation particularly after her little boyfriend confronts Mr. Barnes. With help from Jillson and the boyfriend, the girl visits Joey's rehearsal, where he acts like a tyrant to the director and fellow cast members.
