MOTHERS-IN-LAW, THE - How Not to Manage a Rock Group

Air Date/Released Sunday, April 28, 1968
Station/Studio NBC / Desi Arnaz Prods.
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

Situation comedy about neighbors and best friends, the Hubbards and the Buells. The straight-laced Hubbards were successful lawyer Herb and his wife Eve. The more unconventional and somewhat bombastic Buells were Roger, a television writer, and Kaye. The families' kids, Jerry and Suzie, elope and set up housekeeping the Hubbards' renovated garage apartment. Episodes usually revolve around the misadventures and schemes of Eve and Kaye.

Jerry and Suzie's opportunity to manage a new rock group hits a snag when they borrow money from their parents to rent a recording studio. The band's act is lost on the parents, who decide to take charge with a more conservative sound, wardrobe change and haircuts. When the band backs out, the Hubbards and Buells are left with a paid, empty recording studio, and enlist the help of a Salvation Army band, with Joe Besser as the bandleader, to play their kind of music.
