Station/Studio | NBC / Mitchell-Van Sickle Prod. |
A genius with the ability to master any skill escapes from the science think-tank where he was held a prisoner of experimentation. On the run, he travels the country encountering people in need of his natural talents.
Jarod masquerades as a forest ranger, joins in the search for a missing student, and falls in love with his female ranger partner. Opening the episode, Jarod is in a small town diner, intrigued by the TV showing BRIDELESS GROOM (1947).
Jarod: They seem to be able to withstand an amazing amount of pain. People find this type of violence . . . funny?
Waitress: Not people, men.
Jarod: Why it that?
Waitress: Nobody knows. Y’know, the Stooges have been one of the great mysteries between the sexes.
Jarod: [now laughing at the Stooges]
Waitress: Oh no. Not you too.
Jarod: I'm sorry, but really it is pretty funny. I'm sorry. I feel like such a... [gets up to leave and bumps into a young woman carrying a take-out order]
Nia: Stooge?
[Nia smiles at Jarod, and the two exchange looks as she leaves the diner]
Waitress: Hey mattress brain. The bill’s 12.95.
Jarod: Oh!
Waitress: These guys have caused enough distractions for one day. [changes channels]
Nia turns out to be the forest ranger who works with Jarod to find the missing student. They talk as they search...
Jarod: So let me get this straight. They were called the Three Stooges but there were actually four?
Nia: With Shemp. Five if you count Joe Besser. Although a lot of people don’t. And six if you include Curly Joe DeRita but he wasn’t even funny in Spanish.
Jarod: Now was Larry one of the brothers?
Nia: No. Moe, Curly and... What?
Jarod: I thought I heard something.
Later in the episode, Jarod sends a taunting email to his think-tank pursuers, using the title card from DISORDER IN THE COURT and replacing the Stooges' images with the faces of the tank staff.
