In conjunction with receiving their star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 30, 1983, this historical look at the careers of The Three Stooges premiered at 7PM that night at the Gordon Theatre on LaBrea Ave. in Los Angeles. Produced by fan Mark Gilman, 50 YEARS WITH THE STOOGES: THE FUNNIEST GUYS IN THE WORLD was narrated by Steve Allen, relied on public domain footage from the Stooges' film and television work, and added insightful interview footage from family, cast and crew to tell this first of all the filmed tributes to The Three Stooges.

Film and television clips are taken from... DISORDER IN THE COURT (1936), HOLLYWOOD ON PARADE # B-9 (1934), KNIFE OF THE PARTY (1934), DANCING LADY (1933), SCREEN SNAPSHOTS (1945), BRIDELESS GROOM (1947), SING A SONG OF SIX PANTS (1947), MALICE IN THE PALACE (1949), CAMEL COMEDY CARAVAN (THE ED WYNN SHOW) (1950), AFRICA SCREAMS (1949), STOP! LOOK! AND LAUGH! (1960) trailer, and INSTANT SIMONIZ (1959) commercial.

It has circulated under several titles, under license to Operator 13 Productions (Gilman's company). In 1984, Karl Home Video released it as THE MAKING OF THE STOOGES, and it went into television syndication as STOOGE SNAPSHOTS primarily airing on PBS affiliates; both versions were cut down to 46 minutes. In the early 1990s, it showed up again on home video as LOVE THOSE STOOGES, at its original running time.

Former Ted Healy stooge Dick Hakins performed the piano music in the film's soundtrack; The Curly Shuffle plays over the ending credits, courtesy of The Jump 'n' the Saddle Band.
