JERKS OF ALL TRADES

Moe, Larry and Shemp are three bumbling interior decorators who manage to trash their clients' homes.

Joseph Kearns (the original Mr. Wilson on TV's DENNIS THE MENACE 1959 - 1962) appears as the pressure-cooker salesman from Punxatawney, Pennsylvania.

Filmed before a live studio audience, as a pilot for a planned TV series on ABC, which unfortunately, was never picked up. The following text is from the book The Three Stooges Scrapbook, written by Joan Howard Maurer and Jeff & Greg Lenburg...

"The pilot, which took one day to film, was never aired. B.B. Kahane, Columbia Picture's Vice-President of Business Affairs, stopped the show from being broadcast. Kahane warned the Stooges that a contract stipulation restricted them from performing in a TV series that might compete with their two-reel comedies. Columbia further threatened to cancel the boys' contract and take them to court if they tried to sell the series. To avert a legal hassle, the pilot was shelved and the project abandoned."

  • Using Your Head
When Larry is supposed to hang the wallpaper up as a curtain, he has trouble doing so and causes the scene to go on too long, so he ad-libs â€Å"You gotta use your head to get this thing up here!”, cueing Shemp to start going on with the next scene where he paints the wall with his paintbrush-hat.

  • Waiting for Cue
At the beginning, you can see Moe looking off-camera for his cue on when to say his first line.

We now see Moe with a sheepish grin on his face as he is sitting there wittling on a piece of wood. He is now turning around and looking behind himself to a door where Larry is.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is looking over his shoulder towards Larry and is shouting loudly): "Hey, Egg-Head, I'm ready to dictate!"

We now see Larry entering the room and he is hopping up on Moe's lap with a very effeminate manner and with an effeminate look on his face as Larry is holding a pencil and a stenograpers pad.

LARRY to MOE: (In a very lady like manner): "Yes, sir!"

We now see Shemp standing in the background with a mischievous look on his face with a broom in his hands and is standing in front of a closet with a sign on it that reads: "PAINT DEPARTMENT:"

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe has now smacked Larry on his face and has now shoved Larry off of his lap. Moe is now giving Larry a mad look as Larry is rubbing his sore face in pain as Moe says to Larry): "Get away from here. "What's the matter with you, are you an idiot, an imbecile, a moron?"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is laughing hysterically): "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"

MOE to LARRY: (With a look of madness on his face says to Larry): "What are you laughing at?"

LARRY to MOE: (With a true look of mischief on his face as he is still laughing hysterically): "Eight to five, I'm in there someplace!"

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe has a mad look on his face and is once again slapping Larry on his face and is dragging Larry by his hair says): "Come on, get over there and straighten up the files."

All the while that Moe and Larry were having their tit-for-tat, Shemp has been standing in the background in front of the "PAINT DEPARTMENT" closet examining his broom.

MOE to SHEMP: (In a total state of mischief says as Shemp has now set down his broom and is approaching Moe): "Hey, Broccoli-Head, come here, do you think you can take a letter?"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is now sitting down in front of the typewriter and has a quizzical look on his face says): "I don't think, I know!"

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe is sitting down at the desk next to Shemp says in a mischievous voice): "I don't think you know either, but go ahead!"

All the while that Moe was asking Shemp if he could take a letter, we see Larry in the background with a really sheepish look on his face as he is 'trying' to straighten up the filing cabinet system.

We now see Moe who is getting ready to dictate his letter to Shemp who is now positioned in front of the typewriter.

MOE to SHEMP: (In a very serious manner as Moe has one arm resting on the desk and Shemp has now stroked about twenty keys on the typewriter as Moe has now dictated these two words to Shemp): "Dear Sir."

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe has a mischievous look on his face as Moe is now following with his eyes the rapid movement of Shemp's fingers on the keys and Moe has now given Shemp an eyepoke asks Shemp): "What do you have so far?"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is rubbing his eyes and is staring at his sheet of paper asks Moe): "How do you spell 'S-I-R.'?"

MOE to SHEMP: (In a total state of mischief says to Shemp in your case): 'C-U-R, continue. We are receipt of your letter of the sixteenth in reply."

Moe is now bent over and has his hand on his neck as he is thinking and muttering to himself, 'Let me see, let me see.' Moe is now thinking of what to say in the remaining protion of his letter. Shemp is still very busy at his typing chore. Shemp has now gone and pushed the carriage return, causing the carriage to go crashing into Moe's head.

Moe is now bent over and is yelling out loudly in pain, 'Ow, ow, ow, ow.' Moe is now grabbing and rubbing his sore head.

MOE to SHEMP: (As both Moe and Shemp are standing up and Moe has a really mad look on his face as he is now grabbing Shemp by his hair in a full state of madness says): "Remind me to send your head to the cleaners with the rest of the flatwork. Get away from here!"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is now rubbing his head in pain and says to Moe who has a look of madness on his face says): "All right, I'll use pen and ink, that's what I'll do."

As Shemp is pouring some ink from a container into a cup we see Moe looking at the door as someone is knocking on it. Shemp has now set his cup of ink on the desk.

SHEMP, MOE, and LARRY to the DOOR: (In a sing-song style of voice): "Come in, come in, come in!"

We now see a good looking gentleman entering into their office.

CLIENT to SHEMP, MOE, and LARRY: (As he has now entered into their office and has shut the door behind his says): "Pardon me, gentlemen."

Shemp, Larry, and Moe are now looking around their office for the 'gentlemen.'

MOE to the CLIENT: (In a total state of glee when Moe has realized that the client was refering to them says): "Oh, yes."

MR. PENNYFEATHER to SHEMP, LARRY, and MOE: (As he is looking at them in a very serious state as Shemp has now picked back up his cup of ink): "Are you gentlemen, painters and paper hangers?"

LARRY to MR. PENNYFEATHER: (With a look of mischief on his face and in a questionable and mischievous tone of voice replies): "Are we painters and paper hangers?"

MOE to MR. PENNYFEATHER: (As Moe is looking at Mr. Pennyfeather with a look of wonderment on his face and has a questionable tone of voice says): "Are we painters and paper hangers?"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is giving Moe a sheepish look and is picking back up his cup of ink asks Moe in a questionable tone of voice quietly): "Are we?"

We now see Moe with a look of madness on his face to Shemp as Moe is stomping on Shemp's foot in a state of shut-up and madness.

Shemp with his cup of ink in his hand is limping and yelling in pain, 'Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh.' Shemp has now slightly lost his balance and is bending down to rub his sore foot and is spilling his ink all down the front of Mr. Pennyfeather's suit.

MR. PENNYFEATHER, to SHEMP, MOE, and LARRY: (In a totally outrageous manner as he is shouting at Moe, Shemp, and Larry madly): "Why, you clumsy fools!"

MOE to MR. PENNYFEATHER: (As Moe is now taking a sponge and is wiping down the front of Mr. Pennyfeather's suit and is adding 'insult to injury,' making the ink mess even worse): "Now, take it easy, that is a nice rate of Gabardine that you have there."

MR. PENNYFEATHER to MOE: (As Mr. Pennyfeather has a furious look on his face and is waving his hands madly and is shouting loudly at Moe): "Becareful with it then."

(Moe, Larry, and Shemp are standing there with looks of wonderment on their faces and are clapping their hands in unison when Moe said the state of Texas).

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe is giving Shemp a mischievous look says as Larry has given Shemp a pat on his shoulder in agreement): "Go ahead, tell him!"

We now see Shemp swaggering up to Mr. Pennyfeather with his hands on his waist and mischief in his voice as Larry and Moe are standing behind Shemp with looks of dazement on their faces.

SHEMP to MR. PENNYFEATHER: (In a state of mischief as Mr. Pennyfeather has now once again slapped Shemp across the face says): Now, look it here neighbour!"

We now see Shemp being pulled back by MOe once again as Moe is still mad at Mr. Pennyfeather. Shemp is rubbing his face in pain as Larry has his hand on Shemp's shoulder and is giving Shemp a look of hurt and sorry.

MOE to MR. PENNYFEATHER: (As Moe is now approaching Mr. Pennyfeather once again in madness and has a look of devilment on his face says): "Now, wait a minute, Nickelfeather!"

Mr. Pennyfeather is now bending over in pain as Shemp is grabbing him by his suit jacket and belt and is turning him around as Larry is running for the door and is opening it up. All the while that Moe is shouting, 'HIKE, HIKE, HIKE.' Moe and Shemp have now thrown Mr. Pennyfeather out of their office. LARRY to MOE: (As Larry has a look of sheepishness on his face and replies to Moe in a sassy tone of voice): "Yeah, isn't that quisn't?"

Moe has now given Larry a smack on his face as Moe is once again slamming shut the top cabinet drawer in a state of madness. The bottom cabinet drawer has now sprung open, but Moe has now jumped out of the way and does not get hit by it.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is giving Larry a look of accomplishment as Moe says to Larry happily): "See, that's the way to do it!"

Larry is now applauding Moe at his accomplishment.

Moe is now ducked down as he is kicking shut the bottom filing cabinet system drawer to void being hit by the top filing cabinet system drawer but Moe is now being hit in the head by the middle drawer.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is proud of his accomplishment and is standing up not knowing that the middle cabinet drawer is open as Moe crashed into it says): "You gotta use your head!"

SHEMP to MOE: (With a sheepish look on his face and mischief in his voice says): "I couldn't find enough Swed's to massage."

Moe is now looking at Larry in a state of madness as Moe has now slapped Shemp across his face.

All the while that Shemp and Moe were having their "INTELLIGENT" conversation about opening the filing cabinet system, Larry was standing there with a look of wonder on his face and is slightly laughing.

MOE to LARRY: (With a look of madness on his face and in a mad tone of voice says): "Wait a minute, we gotta take our paint supplies with us."

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is clapping his hands and whispers mischievously in reply to Moe): "Ooh, the paint supplies!"

Larry and Moe are now going to the 'PAINT DEPARTMENT' room where Shemp is hiding.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is shouting at Larry and is opening the 'PAINT DEPARTMENT' door says): "Come on."

Moe has now opened the closet door to the 'PAINT DEPARTMENT' as Larry is rushing in to get the supplies not noticing Shemp who is standing there with a tired and dazed look on his face.

LARRY: (Shouting in general conversation in a happy voice tone): "Make way, we gotta get in here, we gotta get our stuff, we gotta get our stuff right now."

We now see Larry and Moe charging into the closet as they are frantically getting their painting clothes and is pushing Shemp back into the closet not knowing about Shemp being there.

MOE: (Shouting in general discussion also in a happy tone of voice): "Make way, get out of the way. Gotta get my stuff."

LARRY: (Now shouting frantically again): "We gotta get our stuff, yes we do."

SHEMP: (Who has a look on his face of dazement says to Larry and Moe): "All right, all right fellas, but let me outta here!"

We now see Shemp, Moe, and Larry all stuffed together inside of that tiny closet. Shemp has a very dazed and spastic look on his face while Larry is frantically putting on his painting suit which is a long white jacket and French style Barrette hat. Poor Shemp is still fighting to get free.

We now see Moe finishing putting on his painting wear which is a long white jacket and chef style hat. While Larry is finishing getting dressed and Shemp is asking Moe to help him put on his painting jumper.

We now see Mrs. Pennyfeather standing there in a total dazed state while Moe is looking at Shemp with a look of devilment on his face and is laughing.

SHEMP to MOE and MRS. PENNYFEATHER: (Shemp says in a very proud voice and has pride on his face says): "I got that outta my own head!"

Now then, if we take and make that door and old rose, we can of course take it with a mustard brown and later we can blen all those things together. And now when it comes here, we'll set the whole thing, wave it by perhaps putting a dash of lavender, over the whole thing. Sort o making it kind of a modernistique thing."

As Moe is discussing colours with Mrs. Pennyfeather we now see Larry getting ready to hand his first sheet of wall covering. Larry is now rolling it our and is kneeling on it to keep it in place. Larry is now in the process of cutting it, but instead of cutting the wall covering, Larry has now cut off a piece of his jacket and has slightly stabbed himself with the shears, and is yelling, 'ow, ow, ow, ow,' in pain as he has now dropped his shears in pain. We now see Moe at the picture of Mrs. Pennyfeather's daughter as he s taking hold of a loose corner of the picture and is ripping it off where we see another picture, of a georgeous lady who is dressed in a mid-calf skirt, high heeled shoes, and a very scanty top, and she is rather voluptuously built. Moe is now looking at the picture in agreement. Moe is now turning around and is shouting.

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As he is happily calling them to come and critique the picture): "Hey, fellas come here!"

We now see Shemp and Larry happily approaching Moe.

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As Moe is pointing at the picture and has a look of glee on his face while Larry and Shemp are also enjoying the picture): "Hey fellas, do you think we can fix that?"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry has his hand on his waist and is gazing at the very beautiful lady says): "I don't see anything wrong with it now."

SHEMP to MOE and LARRY: (As Shemp is looking at the beautiful voluptuously young lad says): "What a babe!"

LARRY to SHEMP: (In a thorough state of happiness as Larry is happily approaching the picture says): "Oh, oh, oh, oh,."

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As both Shemp and Larry are making goo-goo eyes at the picture of the beautiful lady Moe is pushing Larry and Shemp back away from the picture and is shouting at them): "Wait a minute, remember we are gentlemen first and our feelings come second!"

We now see Larry staring at Shemp with a blank look on his face.

SHEMP to MOE: (In a full state of mischief says): "Well, let's get out of first and shift into second!"

Larry is standing there with a big, huge grin on his face as he is agreeing to what Shemp has now said. Moe in a state of madness has now reached behind himself and is hitting Shemp hard on his head.

We are now in the process of seeing Moe rip off the picture of the beautiful lady and is now exposing a picture of an even more beautiful lady, who is very voluptuously built and is dressed in a very skimpy bikini style swimming wear.

Moe has now turned around and is happily looking at both Shemp and Larry with a look of happy surprise on his face.

MOE, LARRY, and SHEMP: (As they are saying in a very happiy unison about the picture as the have huge gleeful looks on their faces): "Oh, boy!" 'Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho'."

We now see the very happy Shemp, Moe, and Larry happily ripping off that picture together hoping to find behind it an even more beautiful woman. Larry, Shemp, and Moe are now in the process of ripping down that picture in a state of hurried happiness as they are now exposing a picture of an ugly, witchie looking person, with big bugged-out eyes, huge, ugly nose with a couple of warts on it, very wrinkled skin, gigantic sized pointy ears, almost bald, except for a few whisps of side hairs and one little bun on the top of her head, several teeth missing and an ugly demonic look on her face.

Moe, Shemp, and Larry are now looking at the picture in a horrified state as they are now getting ready to beat their heads on the wall and are yelling out in disagreement as Moe's hair is standing on end to the picture. 'Yee, yee, yee, yee, yah, yah, yah, yah.' Shemp is standing there with his hand on Moe's shoulder comforting him as Shemp is gazing at the picture in a horrified state as well as Larry.

We now see Moe, Shemp, and Larry ready to beat their heads against the ugly picture. As Moe, Larry, and Shemp are now approaching the ugly picture, a huge hand with a boxing glove on it comes crashing through the wall and the picture hitting Moe, Shemp, and Larry in their foreheads hard.

We now see Moe, Larry, and Shemp turning around and staggering a bit rubbing their heads in pain after they have been hit by the boxing glove through the picture.

MOE to LARRY and SHEMP: (As he is now staggering and regaining his balance says): "What happened?"

LARRY to MOE and SHEMP: (As Larry is also regaining his balance from being socked in the kisser by the golve): "Who did that?"

SHEMP to MOE and LARRY: (As Shemp is also regaining his balance and is rubbing his head in pain says): "I don't know!"

We now see Larry going back and taking one final look behind the ugly witch picture while Moe and Shemp are still rubbing their heads in pain.

We now see Mrs. Pennyfeather entering her living room quarters where Moe and Shemp are still rubbing their heads from pain.

MRS. PENNYFEATHER to MOE, SHEMP, and LARRY: (With a look of wonderment on her face and in a worried voice tone): "Oh, boys, ah, boys, I forgot to tell you, please be very careful with that table, it's a very fine old table." (She is pointing to the dining table in the living room quarters).

As Mrs. Pennyfeather was asking Moe, Shemp, and Larry to be careful with the table they have looks of dazement on their faces and are giving the table and then Mrs. Pennyfeather looks of agreement.

MOE to MRS. PENNYFEATHER: (As Shemp and Larry are also standing there with looks of mischievous wonderment on their faces as Moe says): "All right!"

We now see Mrs. Pennyfeather exiting as she is now trusting Moe, Larry, and Shemp to be careful with her prize, antique table.

LARRY to MRS. PENNYFEATHER: (As Mrs. Pennyfeather is now leaving and Larry is raising his hand in agreement about being careful with the table says, in a low, muffled type of voice): "Yeah!"

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As Moe is looking at Larry and Shemp in a devilish manner and with mischief in his voice says): "We'll make it look new again!"

MOE to LARRY and SHEMP: (As Moe is giving them instructions in a professional manner says): "Start on the table first boys, let's go!"

LARRY and SHEMP to MOE: (With looks of happiness on their faces and mischief in their voices): "All right!"

We now see Shemp, Larry, and Moe picking up their paint pails and are running over to the table in a happy manner as they are now commencing to 'PAINT' the table.

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As they are now getting ready to 'RUIN', (Oops), 'PAINT', the table): "Have you your brush here?"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now commencing to paint the table says): "Yeah!"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is also getting ready to paint a portion of the table): "All right!"

We are now on Moe and Larry as they are happily busy at painting the table. Shemp is now happily humming to himself as he is busy at painting. Larry is also happily doing his portion of the table. Moe is also happily humming as he is now painting his portion of the table along with painting Larry's backside.

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry has a look of puzzlement on his face and he has now noticed that Moe is also painting him. Larry is now turning around and is looking at Moe with madness on his face and is shouting at Moe madly): "Hey, hey, hey, you were never vut out to be a painter, brother!"

We now see Larry looking at the backside of his painting jacket.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is waving his hand in a state of mischief and replies back to Larry in a state of mischief says): "Oh, that's just a means to an end!"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now returning back to his painting chore and has a look of dumbfoundedness on his face mumbles to Moe): "Yeah, all right!"

Shemp, Moe, and Larry are now once again humming happily as they are still painting the table in glee.

We now see Shemp who is bent down and is painting one of the table legs and Larry is painting the side of the table right next to Shemp's face. Larry is now happily painting the table along with Shemp's face and head. Larry has not noticed that he is now in the process of painting Shemp's face and head.

SHEMP to LARRY: (As Shemp is in a mad state and is shouting at Larry madly): "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh'."

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe has now noticed that Larry is painting Shemp is yelling at Larry in a mad tone of voice): "Hey, stupid, don't you realize what you're doin'?"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now jumping up and using hand gestures in madness as he is shouting at Moe in a very loud and mad tone of voice as Larry still has not noticed he is painting Shemp): "What I'm doin'?"

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is waving his paint brush at Larry in madness and is yelling at Larry in a loud, mad tone of voice says): "Go on, get busy."

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now thoroughly mad at Moe and is bending down to fill his brush with paint is yelling back at Moe in a mad and muffled ton of voice): "All right, go ahea, blamming me for every thing."

We are now once again seeing Moe, Larry, and Shemp happily back at painting the table. Moe is humming in happiness as he is painting the table along with painting Shemp's face and head. Larry is happily slapping paint on the table. Shemp has now stood up in madness about Moe painting him in the face and head. Shemp has now slapped Moe in the face with his paint brush.

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp has now stood up in madness and is yelling at Moe): "What's going on here,? would you please stop that whole mess, what do you think you're doing,? go on get out of here. Go on, go on, what are you doing standing up here?"

LARRY to SHEMP: (As Larry is now extending Shemp his hand in friendship with his paint brush in his hand says in a state of mischief as Shemp has now shaken the paint brush): "Bulls-eye."

We now see Larry standing there smiling mischievously as Shemp has now thrown down Larry's paint brush onto the table. Shemp has now reached over and has slapped Moe once again in his face first with his painted hand and then with his paint brush.

We now see Shemp standing behind the furiously mad Moe who is now outrageously mad at Larry and is coming after Larry with his paint pail and brush.

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now putting up his hands gesturing Moe to stop and is yelling at Moe in a frantic tone of voice): "Wait a minute, no Moe, it's his fauly, no you don't!"

We now see Larry crouching down to try and get away from the furiously mad Moe and his paint brush. Moe is now bending down and is getting ready to hit Larry in the face with his paint brush.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is bent down in a thorough state of rage with his paint brush poised to hit Larry in the face says to Larry madly): "Come out!"

We now see Larry being hit in the face with Moe's paint brush and is standing up and wiping paint off oh his face.

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is standing up thoroughly mad at Moe shouts out to Moe): "Bummer!"

We now see Larry standing there wiping paint off of his face while Shemp is standing behind Moe with a scared look on his face. Moe has an outrageously mad look on his face about the way that Shemp and Larry acted.

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As Moe is shouting at them in a fully loud, outrageously mad tone of voice): "You guys go in and paint the bedroom, I'll handle this, go ahead, get going!"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is being slightly thrown by Moe and Larry has now shouted to Moe in a slight muffled tone of voice): "Get away from here, I am going."

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is now leaving with Larry in a state of madness to go and paint the bedroom says): "All right, I'll leave these buckets right here."

As Shemp and Larry are now exiting to go paint the bedroom and Moe is happily painting the 'rare antique table' we now hear a knocking at the front door.

MOE to the FRONT DOOR: (As Moe turns around and shouts): "Come in!"

We now see a young, good looking sales gentleman walk in, in a very professional manner as he is carrying a pressure cooking pot and is getting ready to pitch his sales speal to Moe to try and get Moe to buy one.

MOE to the PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN: (In a professional manner as Moe has paint on his face and says to him): "Yes!"

PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN to MOE: (Take one: As the salesman is standing there with his pot extended slightly forward and he has a very blank and professional look on his face says): "How do you do? My name is Fink, I represent the Pauxitauny Pressurer Cooker Company, Pauxitauny Pennsylvania. We make the finest pressure cookers ever made......"

As the salesman was giving his speech to Moe they were interrupted by Larry.

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is shouting from the bedroom for help says): "Hey Moe, come in here and help us with the paint, will ya?"

We now see Moe and the pressure cooker salesman looking in the direction of Larry's voice with looks of wonderment on their faces.

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is now shouting back at Larry madly); "Quiet, can't come in now, I'm talking to a salesman."

MOE to the PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN: (In a very carrying tone of voice says): "What did you say bud?"

Once again as the salesman was pitching his pressure cooker to Moe for the second time, we now hear Larry and Shemp yelling out of the bedroom for the second time.

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is shouting out to Moe in a mad tone of voice): "Hey Moe, what colour paint should I use in this bedroom?, should I use the blue to match the ladies eyes or the brown to match here hair?"

We now see Moe and the poor, pathetic, pressure cooker salesman with looks of hurtfulness on their faces.

MOE to the PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN: (As he is telling the salesman in a carrying tone of voice): "Well, why don't ya try saying it in your own words, it might be a little more convincing."

PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN to MOE: (In a voice tone of okay, I will): "Oh, okay, I'll try. RIGHT HERE WE NOW SEE MOE, SHEMP, AND LARRY GETTING READY TO 'SHUCK AND JIVE' THE POOR PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN:

MOE to the PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN: (In a state of amazement as Moe has finally recognized what the salesman has been feebily trying to sell): "Hey, that's a pressure cooker, that's a mighty fine item, bud."

PRESSURE COOKER SALESMAN to MOE: (In a quizzical tone of voice and with a look of dumbfoundedness on his face says): "It is?"

Moe has now 'SHUCKED AND JIVED' that poor salesman into purchasing his own product all the while that Moe has now made a five dollar profit.

"CUSTOMER" to MOE: (In a very happy state as he is thanking Moe for the pot says happily): "My wife has always wanted one of these, oh, she'll be so happy to see this."

We now see the pressure cooker salesman leaving in a really happy mood with his new pressure cooker that Moe 'SHUCKED AND JIVED' him into purchasing.

We now see Shemp, Moe, and Larry standing there shaking their heads in wonder at what has just happened as they have looks of dismay on their faces.

MOE to LARRY and SHEMP: (As Shemp and Larry are looking at Moe dumbly as Moe has a blank look on his face says): "We seem to attract the oddest people!"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp has a look of mischief on his face and is using a mischievous tone of voice says): "Yeah, that guy reminds me of my uncle, he was an igloo manufacturer."

LARRY to SHEMP: (In a full questionable state says): "An igloo manufacturer,? How do you manufacture igloos?"

SHEMP to LARRY: (As Shemp has a look of seriousness on his face and in a serious tone of voice as he is using hand gestures to help himself): "Simple, you just take two 'IG'S' and you 'GLOO' them together!"

All the while that Shemp was teaching Larry how to manufacture 'igloos', Moe was standing there in a full state of madness as Larry was standing there with a happy and contented look on his face about his 'NEW DISCOVERY' on igloo manufacturing.

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe is now thoroughly mad and slapping both sides of Shemp's face says): "Get outta here!"

We now see Mrs. Pennyfeather entering into her living room quarters with a couple plates of sandwiches and is in a total state of outrage as she has now noticed that nothing has yet been accomplished.

MRS. PENNYFEATHER to SHEMP, MOE, and LARRY: (In a totally mad state as she is now shouting at them madly): "Goodness, aren't you boys working yet?"

We now see Mrs. Pennyfeather setting down the plates of sandwiches at the entrance way into the living room quarters as she is now exting thoroughly mad.

SHEMP: (In response mischievously to Mrs. Pennyfeather's statement of them not working): "How do you do,? I represent the......"

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe is now outrageously mad at Shemp and is yelling at Shemp at the top of his lungs): "Quiet!"

We now see Larry standing there laughing at Shemp while Mrs. Pennyfeather is slightly laughing also but then she turns mad.

MRS. PENNYFEATHER to SHEMP, LARRY, and MOE: (As she is now exiting and is yelling at them madly and is stomping her foot in madness shouts): "Get to work!"

MOE to LARRY and SHEMP: (As Moe is now becoming serious again and is shouting madly at Larry and Shemp says): "You heard what the lady said, get to work!"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry has a mad, yet mischievous look on his face and says to Moe in a mischievous tone on voice): "And what are you gonna do?"

MOE to LARRY: (In a low monotone style of voice as he is shouting back to Larry): "Nothin', what about it?"

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry has a sheepish look on his face and a sheepish tone of voice says as he is turning around to leave): "I just thought I would ask, yeah, thought I would ask that's all!"

As Moe and Larry were having their tit-for-tat about working we now see Shemp taking out his pocket watch and checking the time and then returning his watch back to his pocket.

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp has now removed a pair of spectacles from his pocket of his painting jumper-alls and is cleaning them thoroughly): "I gotta do this right!"

We now see Moe looking at Shemp in a state of wonderment as Shemp is thoroughly cleaning his spectacles.

MOE to SHEMP: (As Moe is looking at Shemp in a state of madness): "I was afraid of that!"

Shemp is now in the process of cleaning his spectacles. Shemp has now blown on them and also in the process of spitting on them, but instead of Shemp spitting on his spectacle, has now spitted on the back of Moe's head.

Moe has now turned around and has given Shemp a really mad look. Shemp has now finished cleaning his spectacles and has put them on.

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp has his spectacles on says happily): "Oh, I can see like an owl now."

As Shemp is now returning back to work wearing his spectacles and in reality not being able to see out of them at all has now walked right into Moe, and pushing Moe back slightly.

Moe is now grabbing Shemp by the arm and is now turning Shemp around as Shemp is staring closely at Moe's arm as Moe is now pointing at Shemp which direction to go in.

We now see Shemp down on the floor wearing his spectacles that in reality are making him 'BLIND AS A BAT'. He thinks that he is at a wall and he is now starting to put wall covering on the floor.

MOE to SHEMP and LARRY: (As Moe is saying to Shemp and Larry in a serious voice and Moe is now taking off his jacket): "We gotta get that wall papering done boys, get a move on now."

LARRY to MOE: (As Larry is now picking up a couple logs of wall covering and is approaching the wall says): "Yes sir!"

SHEMP to MOE: (As Shemp is now on the floor busy at work says to Moe): "I'm stirring it don't worr about it."

LARRY to MOE and SHEMP: (In sorta mad voice says): "All right!"

SHEMP to MOE and LARRY: (In a serious tone of voice says): "I got it."

We now see the 'BLIND' Shemp busy at spreading wall covering adhesive to Moe's painting jacket that is spread out on the once beautiful, rare, antique table. Larry is now joining in with Shemp at putting adhesive to Moe's painting jacket. Shemp and Larry are now running frantically with Moe's jacket as they are now adhering it to the wall.

LARRY to SHEMP: (As Larry is now rushing with the jacket says): "We gotta get going now before he get's very upset now."

SHEMP to LARRY: (In a monotone voice agreeing with every thing Larry is saying not paying attention whole heartedly): "All right, all right!"

We now see Shemp approaching a window with a log of wall covering as he is happily measuring it and is mumbling to himself, but instead of bringing back the wall covering he is now returning with a table cover and is saying): "Wee I got this, all right, I'll take this here, and I'll take it over here. Put that down here, and I will put that down here."

We are now on Larry who is now frantically at work trying to adhere a sheet of wall covering with a staple gun to the wall as he is mumbling to himself, "Right here, right here, right here."

We are now back on Moe and Shemp working on the antique table. Shemp still wearing those horrible spectacles is wildly apply wall covering adhesive to the table covering. Moe has now measured out a perfect sized piece and is applying the adhesive neatly with a large paint brush.

SHEMP: (Mumbling to himself as he is now approaching the area he wants to adhere his table covering is saying): That's it, that's the way to take it, and a way we go."

MOE to LARRY: (As Moe is now in a state of panic about completing their assignment is now yelling at Larry): "Bring it over boy, come on, bring it over."

We now see Larry running frantically over to Moe with a sheet of wall covering with a worried look on his face as they are now flattening it out as Moe is now getting ready to apply the adhesive to it.

We now see and hear Shemp in the background as he has now happily applied the table covering to the wall as he is mumbling to himself: "That looks great now, believe me, that looks fine."

We now see Mr. and Mrs. Pennyfeather entering the living room quarters where Shemp, Moe, and Larry are now busy at 'WORK,'?

MRS. PENNYFEATHER to HER HUSBAND: (In a state of panic says): "Don't worry dear, I do think the painters will be finished soon."

Mr. Pennyfeather has now walked over and turned on the 'LAMP'. The lamp happens to be Shemp who is hiding under the lamp cover and is holding the light bulb in his hand and Mr. Pennyfeather has now 'turned on the lamp' by pulling on Shemp's tie. Very funny TV pilot. Such a shame it never evolved into a weekly show thanks to the knuckleheads at Columbia. It's interesting watching the boys in front of a live audience. Certainly, there are spots where you miss the sound effects from the shorts & there are a few flubs, but overall it's a very strong effort with great supporting players Emil Sitka & Symona Boniface. Enjoyed the reused gags from Tassels in the Air/A Snitch in Time with the table painting & the guy trying to sell the stooges a pressure cooker (My name is Fink; go ahead bud).

This, as most fans know, was a pilot for a TV series that never went into production, because Columbia threatened legal action. They saw the proposed project as competition with the two-reelers, which is ridiculous. The pilot is as funny as any of their shorts, and if anything, the series, if it happened, would have turned TV audiences on to the Stooges, and to the Columbia two-reelers! This was proven when Columbia sold the TV rights to the shorts in 1959, and their popularity surged. As for this film itself, it is very well executed for a live performance! The sound & picture are horrible, but that is due to the fact that this film was hidden or forgotten about until the '90's. While it never aired, it can be found on at least two DVD's. Anchor Bay has a DVD with this, Kook's Tour, and Family Album (a brief documentary), for around $10.00. Goodtimes has a budget version, coupled with Swing Parade that sold for around $6.00, although it is now out of print, but still relatively easy to find. What a show this series would have been!!!

Enjoyed this one a lot. Just saw it for the first time this weekend.

But to be honest, I'm glad this did not become a TV series. I don't think live TV is the best for the Stooges. Their films needed the sound effects and the editing.

They might could have made it a sort of variety show, but I suspect the TV show would have gravitated towards something more like I Love Lucy.

I have this on VHS, and I have to say, for a live show, this is really good. The boys do a great job infront of a live audience.
