Stooge Goofs   (3)
  • Line Flub
When Shemp is supposed to say â€Å"See you later, fellas”, he accidentally says â€Å"See you laters, fella”.

  • Plot hole
Moe and Larry are trick Shemp into getting married by pretending he will inherit $500 grand. However, what is the point of putting such a story announcing it in the newspaper? He's already at the Justice of the Peace getting married under to his ghastly bride.

  • Salad Oil/Kerosene
I'm surprised no one ever called out this real cheat of a scene. Moe grabs a can of clearly labeled "Salad Oil" to flavor the turkey before putting it in the oven. However, when he puts it down, it now clearly says "Kerosene". No explanation is ever given for the change.

This one is disappointing in the sense that the opening new footage that starts the short is so good, that you can't help but feel cheated when the stock footage is inserted--much like the earlier Booty and the Beast. And the jarring contrast of the storylines as the new is merged with the old is very lazily handled.

Maybe if this short had been crafted in the 1940s, Felix Adler might have given us a good "all original" short. But--as it is--Husbands is a passable Shemp recycle...

It's no "Brideless Groom" but this is a pretty fair Shemp short. I generally like it better when the Stooges have homely looking wives/girlfriends than improbably pretty ones - unless the lovely gals have an ulterior motive to swindle one or more of the boys.

I have always liked this one. The new footage at the start (the kitchen and dining scenes) is top notch and the stock footage doesn't fit too badly.

The new opening scene is excellent, with Moe and Larry being married to Shemp's fat, bossy sisters, and have to cook a turkey dinner for them. In fact, it was so good, there was no real need to reuse footage from BRIDELESS GROOM. And the real let-down is, after they go to the reused footage from BRIDELESS, there's hardly any new footage after that until the very end, and the new ending seemed really rushed. But the new footage at the beginning was surprisingly very funny, and that deserves enough points right there.

A dencent remake. Only the plot evolves more around Larry and Moe than Shemp. Those fat women are mean,I mean MEAN!But the old footage was acually worth it this time because Columbia was on a tight budget watching all the scenes from Brideless Groom was sort of repetitive but it's great seiing Shemp in the new footage knowing he's not going to be alive in the next 6 months, its great to watch the reused scenes where Shemp is still alive.

I actually like this short, but it is subpar compared to Bridelss Groom. The part where the boys give their girls those muffins is halirious in my book. G.B.: Using stock footage is NOT a skill, it's a way to save money if you're going broke... How would you like it if your favorite TV show used stock footage in a good number of their episodes?

I agree with Stooge. This remake is fairly good with great new footage, but there were a whole load of strange cuts where they edited out old footage.Grade: B-

I am now convinced that out of all the posters in all Stooge forums, I must be the one that minds seeing a reuse of old footage the least. Mind you, the more reused footage there is, the less I like it, but I don't mind a film being 85% old reused footage. Anyway, I thouroughly enjoyed this remake. Whatever happened to the "That's just to let YOU know who's going to be boss around here!" mentality Moe and Larry displayed in "In the Sweet Pie and Pie?" Those women were mean! But the Stooges were hilarious as usual nevertheless.I also loved the ending- I can't get enough of the scoot-around-on-your-butt gag.ISLIPP, you SLIPP, we all SLIPP for ISLIPP! ©2001

Great remake, I got a real kick out of the end and the new footage was pretty good. One of the best remakes.
