Renowned Broadway stage actor, who made the move to film noir in the late 1940s. Best remembered as 'Adm. Nelson' on the TV series VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (1963 - 1967). One day after recording voiceover for the 1984 Olympics opening ceremony, he suffered a stroke and died.
