Talented song and dance man, who began his film career as straight-man to a mule, in Universal Studios' FRANCIS THE TALKING MULE series. Broke out as a major star in MGM's SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (1951), with the musical number "Be A Clown" and remained busy for the rest of his career as a singer, dancer and character actor, on film, TV and stage.
